What do I need to voice control my fans and AC?.Do I need Philips Hue bridge or just the lights? Or any other lights that will work with Home Assistant? Do I need another home hub? Or is Home Assistant going to take care of everything?.Now for the questions… this is based on my limited understanding and noob status.

Multiple docks, boomboxes, computer speakers, and Bluetooth speakers, but rarely used for critical music listening… in other words I’d need Home/Voice Automation for the vintage amps that are connected with Chromecast Audio. Vintage Sansui setup with no WiFi and/or Bluetooth, but connected with Chromecast Audio. Stereo - Vintage Sony setup with no WiFi and/or Bluetooth, but connected with Chromecast Audio. Connected with Chromecast Video and Roku. Home Theater - Onkyo AVR with WiFi and Bluetooth.

Smart TV - Connected with Chromecast Video and Roku. Multiple Chromecast Video, Chromecast Audio, and Roku devices.

(Thanks to BRUH Automation).ġ Google Home, 1 Amazon Echo, 3 Echo Dots, a couple of Raspberry Pi’s, a couple of PCs, laptops, smartphones, and tablets. I like to set it to display the total remaining time on the disc.I’ve installed Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi 2 using the All In One Installer. All other functions such as next/previous track selection and pause/play etc are very speedy as well.įinally (for now), one feature I really like that most dedicated CD players have that few (if any) universal players have is the ability to change the time display. Again, this is something I've noticed with pretty much all the universal disc players, though that is understandable since universal players have to read several different disc formats. It also reads discs quicker, I timed it and from the time the drawer closes until the disc is read and it takes between 4-5 seconds. I have noticed this with other universal disc players that I've owned (a lot) over the years. When you hit the drawer open/close button on the unit or the remote it opens or closes immediately, while the Cambridge takes a couple of seconds. After more time with it I'll post more thoughts on the sound but I'm quite pleased thus far.Īs a bonus, it is also speedier in operation. I'd say that the Rotel has a more open and detailed sound, just what I was hoping for. It's an excellent sounding unit itself with (5) Wolfson WM8740 DAC chips inside, but felt that redbook CD playback could sound a little better. I've been using my Cambridge Audio 752BD universal disc Blu-Ray player for all my CD & SACD listening for quite some time. I've listened to 12-15 discs with it so far. It appears the brightness setting only works when the unit is on and it's blue. Thankfully there are also 7 brightness settings for the LED above the power button, because the default highest setting is very distracting! I set it to the lowest setting and it's much easier on the eyes, though when the unit is off the LED is red and brighter than I'd prefer. The display has 7 brightness settings to choose from in the menu, and with any of them the display is very easy to read from my listening chair about 8' away. I don't care for fancy bells and whistles on my gear.

I am thankful it doesn't have an ugly USB port anywhere on the unit (especially the front panel). It's well built and has clean classy looks.
